The reference is organised around two kinds of page. Breed entries live at the top level of the site and each opens with a data card — country of origin, size, coat, colour, alternative names, registry recognition and group — followed by the history of the breed and an honest account of its character, requirements and known health concerns. Ownership articles live in topic directories and cover the practical side: choosing a dog, adopting one, and looking after it once it arrives.
Breed entries are grouped below by the kind of work the breed was developed for rather than strictly alphabetically, because that grouping is far more useful when you are trying to find a dog that suits you. If you know the name you want, the alphabetical breeds list is the faster route, and the letter strip at the top of every page will take you straight to a section of the index.
